IRS: Cheapest Obamacare Plan Will Be $20,000 Per Family

In a final regulation issued Wednesday, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) assumed that under Obamacare the cheapest health insurance plan available in 2016 for a family will cost $20,000 for the year.

Under Obamacare, Americans will be required to buy health insurance or pay a penalty to the IRS.

The IRS’s assumption that the cheapest plan for family will cost $20,000 per year is found in examples the IRS gives to help people understand how to calculate the penalty they will need to pay the government if they do not buy a mandated health plan.

The examples point to families of four and families of five, both of which the IRS expects in its assumptions to pay a minimum of $20,000 per year for a bronze plan.

“The annual national average bronze plan premium for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) is $20,000,” the regulation says.

Bronze will be the lowest tier health-insurance plan available under Obamacare–after Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Under the law, the penalty for not buying health insurance is supposed to be capped at either the annual average Bronze premium, 2.5 percent of taxable income, or $2,085.00 per family in 2016.

From the article… Re "In a final regulation issued Wednesday, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) assumed that under Obamacare the cheapest health insurance plan available in 2016 for a family will cost $20,000 for the year."

If you go to the actual article and click the embedded link contained in that paragraph, and then read the "final regulation," you will find that it is not final at all.

It states…
ACTION: Notice of PROPOSED rulemaking and NOTICE OF public hearing.
SUMMARY: This document contains PROPOSED regulations relating to the requirement to maintain minimum essential coverage enacted by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, as amended by the TRICARE Affirmation Act and Public Law 111-173. These PROPOSED regulations provide guidance on the liability for the shared responsibility payment for not maintaining minimum essential coverage. This document also provides NOTICE OF a public hearing on these PROPOSED regulations.

DATES: COMMENTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY May 2, 2013. Outlines of TOPICS TO BE discussed at the public hearing SCHEDULED FOR May 29, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., must be received by May 3, 2013.

In other words, it ain't happened yet; therefore, it ain't final… Which means, contrary to what this article would have you believe, it can STILL be aborted IF you scream loud enough… So… quit yer bitching about something that has not happened yet and do something about it before it DOES happen!

Another thing… Even if this proposal is made final… It is still only an Internal Revenue Service Regulation giving an EXAMPLE to show taxpayers how to do their taxes. The $20,000 figure is simply a part of a hypothetical example, not an assumption of anything on the part of the IRS about ObamaCare. Whatever assumption is being made is being made by the author of this article; and, he apparently does not even know the difference between a "final regulation" and a proposal.

Back to "where to go?" We need to leave this country, just as the wealthy are leaving the states that try to tax away all of their money. The short-sightedness of the politicos continues, led by the Obama who wants to kill America. Bringing all but the elite few of Americans down a notch, he believes, brings the rest of the 3rd and 2nd world countries up a notch, to make us all equal. No longer can America come to the aid of other countries in disasters, we'll be as broke as they are. But hey, we'll be a global "equal."

When ObamaCare passed, the health insurance subsidies were projected to cost $462 billion between 2012 and 2019. Now, the estimate is $574 billion. newsandopinions dot net

The "Origination Clause" in the U.S. Constitution (Article I, Section 7) requires that taxes be initiated in the House. The Senate took a House bill dealing with veterans and deleted the title and all text, leaving only the bill's number. ObamaCare was then inserted. The Supreme Court characterized the penalties in ObamaCare as federal taxes, but was not asked and did not address the issue of which body of Congress initiated the taxes. The Pacific Legal Foundation has filed a suit (U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia) challenging ObamaCare on this issue. newsandopinions dot net

I'm already paying $18,000/year for an HSA for a family of three. This is the result of continual insurance premium increases over the past 12 years. Health care insurance and delivery is fundamentally flawed in America. Obamacare isn't going to fix it, but neither side has any proposal to fix the problem.

This is just the beginning folks. Plans need to be made now to start putting people in congress that have the guts to vote to repeal this assinine law and overide Obama's veto. Truth be known, we really do not know what else those conniving liberals hid in that law that will lead us further down the road to socialism. I do know that the average American family is not going to be able to afford $20000.00 in insurance premiums for health insurance per year. This is Obama's way of putting medical care completely under government supervision and authority and this isdictatorship in the rawest form. The man is dangerous and is single handedly destroying the United states and our elected gutless senators and representatives are sitting up there allowing him to do it and I think the time has come for the voters to wake up and cover their representetives with letters ,phone calls visits and tell them to stop him now before it is to late .

Actually there are rules in place to help moderate and low income families with the costs, either through tax credits or flat out subsidies.

However, since Medicare works well and the administrative costs are low, why not just let everybody sign up for Medicare and get genuine healthcare for a lot less.

The big insurers won't like it but they do a rotten job so let them go jump in the lake.

EFFECTS of obama care : In the past 3 years our medical coverage has doubled
We are not covered under obama care for PRE EXISTING CONDITIONS.. that is only for young people who don't have any.. (what bullcrap)
The administration costs for obamacare are EXTREMELY HIGH.. typical of any government run program..
The reason the insurers do a rotten job is because the corrupt government lets them.. the most lobbyists in DC are in health care .. you would be amazed at how much money changes hands..
When you are on a fixed income, like a few thousand dollars a month, it takes all your income to just live never mind pay out all this money for health care that is only designed to kill off the elderly folks any.. that way they won't need to give us our SS check and cover us with medicare.. ALL OF WHICH WE PAID FOR.

Since few of us will be able to afford health insurance under ObamaCare, we all need to include these simple words when we file our taxes WITHOUT paying the penalty: "BLOW IT OUT YOUR A$$!!!!!"

I'll just deal with this the libtard way … I'll impoverish myself so that I will be entitled to free healthcare. Now, I'm not a taker – I'm a maker. But, at some point, it makes no sense to be productive. Besides one of my goals is to strangle this federal beast and take this government down the tubes.

Aw but he does, Cuba is a garbage pit and the only reason the health care seems to work is the small population of the island. and everyone seems to be a doctor or a nurse.

How many families of 4-5 will be able to afford $20 grand a year in insurance? And to pay for housing, food, clothing and other essentials as well, on an income of say, $40-60 grand a year? Or maybe less? And a penalty of the same amount is just as insane.
