Obama Ignores Gas Price Gouging

The price of a barrel of oil has hit $100, the highest price for the month of February since 1990.

Gasoline prices have risen nearly 20 cents per gallon in the past week. A gallon of regular cost an average of $3.37 per gallon on Monday, more than 66 cents higher than at the same time last year.

When Barack Obama took office in January 2009, the average cost of a gallon of gas was $1.85.

While the Obama administration will do what they do best—blame others—you need to know that is not the entire story.

Gas prices were rising even before the Middle East riots, and even before the BP oil spill of last summer. In fact, gas prices have been rising ever since Obama was inaugurated.

He claims that he is not in the pocket of Big Oil. He claims that he believes oil companies are gouging prices, yet he does nothing about it.

The truth is, oil companies are gouging us, and because of the turmoil, the chaos globally, they make excuse after excuse on why we must pay more. WE ALREADY PAY MORE. We already pay too much for nearly every commodity and we have swallowed hard, sacrificed our families, all for BIG OIL. OBAMA is doing nothing about it. Since Obama has taken office, everything we have in the US has become prohibitively more expensive—and PRICES WILL CONTINUE TO RISE IF WE DON’T GET THE OIL COMPANIES UNDER CONTROL.

HERE IS SOMETHING ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW:

Approximately 40% of America’s oil comes from domestic oil fields in states like Texas, Alaska, and California. Some of this oil is actually sold to other countries, such as Japan. The other 60% of the US oil supply is from foreign sources. Contrary to popular belief, however, the US has very diverse oil interests all over the world, and receives oil and petroleum products from almost every continent on Earth.

Big Oil companies are showing RECORD PROFITS, yet consumption is down almost 11% in the US. So why are prices rising? Quarter after quarter, they make more money and WE pay for it.

Because even though the Obama Administration claims to be against Big Oil, they have done nothing to help the American people, as gas prices continue to climb. Oil companies are gouging you and I in an effort to make more money before Obama and his liberal cronies force Americans to give up gasoline.

We need an investigation into these rising prices. We know that there is more to the story than unrest in the Middle East and the BP oil spill. We also know that Obama is just fine with rising gas prices because he and his administration want energy prices to "necessarily skyrocket."

Well Americans can’t afford it anymore. We can’t afford Obama’s anti-oil policies and we certainly can’t afford to let oil companies get away with price gouging. We need a government intervention, and we know that the only way to get that is to demand one ourselves. CITIZENS MUST STAND UP AND INITIATE THIS INVESTIGATION. We can’t wait for Obama and his allies to finally decide to actually help the American people.

Please CLICK HERE to send a fax and DEMAND that Congress investigate the rising gas prices. DEMAND that every Republican, Democrat and Independent come together in order to do what’s best for the American people. Taxpayers can’t afford the high prices at the pump, and they can’t afford to be swindled by Big Oil companies. It is time that these companies are HELD ACCOUNTABLE ONCE AND FOR ALL, so that they are no longer allowed to run wild with profits, while everyone else is forced to pay an arm and a leg at the pump.

Exxon Mobile, America’s largest oil company, reported a 53% profit increase in its fourth quarter.

Their profits are rising as we suffer at the pump. When are we going to say enough is enough? I say that time is now.

One reason behind the rising prices is the unrest in the Middle East. Fear that the situation in Egypt would cause the Suez Canal to be blocked caused investors to become weary about purchasing in the area. But this only accounts for a very small amount of the world’s total demand. Even Libya accounts for less than 2% of supply production.

Production of oil was not interrupted during the crisis in Egypt. It was just speculation causing prices to soar. Speculation that takes advantage of chaos. Chaos that the Big Oil companies capitalize on and chaos that we as people pay for. But when this did not happen, the prices did not correct. Prices should have gone down, but they didn’t; they continued to rise. They expect us to swallow a new norm, a justified theft of our savings, our children’s college funds, and our retirement accounts.

Even though gas prices are rising steadily, the demand is decreasing. It does not appear that supply and demand principles are working! It appears they are being manipulated.

When prices hit an all time high, we responded by saying we will "drive less" or "drive more fuel-efficient vehicles." Because of this, oil companies have gained yet another reason to increase prices—to pad their bottom line.

Unfortunately for us, our leader and his administration wants oil prices to continue to climb. Steven Chu, Obama’s energy secretary, told The Wall Street Journal in 2008 "Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe." IT HAS HAPPENED! The Obama administration has set out to "fundamentally transform" the United States of America into a European-style nation, and this is one of the ways they are doing it, by allowing our gas prices to mirror theirs.

We are up against a President who is NOT "feeling the pain" of the American people. He is not concerned with us being taken advantage of… so this is what we’re up against. Our largest supplier of oil is NOT the Middle East and Obama doesn’t want to help the American people by finding new sources of oil, because he wants the prices to skyrocket.

Because they know Mr. Obama won’t do anything about it, oil companies are taking advantage of us—the consumers. They see the Middle East crumbling, and are more than happy to raise prices and enjoy this period of no accountability.

They watch their profits soar, while we watch our wallets get lighter; all because we need to drive to work, get our children to school and take trips to see relatives.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

We can’t let them get away with this anymore. We need a government intervention and we need it now. We need to get the message to Congress and Barack Obama that Big Oil companies have NO RIGHT to inflate their prices just to line their own pockets.

Analysts are predicting that by 2012, gas prices could hit $5 a gallon. Of course, with the current trends, lack of accountability, and with Obama’s war on energy, we could see those prices much sooner. Remember, it’s only February and gas is over $3 a gallon.

How high do you think it will go?

Obama and Mr. Chu want to force their utopian view of green energy on America. Instead of weaning the nation off oil by first drilling on our own soil, they want to grind oil consumption to a halt by allowing oil companies to raise their prices unnecessarily.

Once oil reaches the European prices, then Obama can force American’s to buy electric cars powered by technology that is not yet proven reliable and CANNOT BE SUPPORTED BY THE CURRENT US ENERGY GRID. This decline in demand, coupled with the rising prices, could be just what the Obama administration needs to force their green energy views on taxpayers.

In a technical brief in 2009 by the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology at the University of California, Berkeley: "There is a valid concern about the U.S. electric grid’s ability to absorb electric vehicles (EVs) into its already-stressed system. With aging existing power plants, population growth, an ever-growing reliance on electronics, and a wariness of building new plants, the nation’s utilities are already heavily taxed and may be hard-pressed to absorb more demand by supporting EVs."

Data across the US would suggest and support that the grid would collapse under the forced directives that Obama is supporting.

Obama is letting oil prices get out of control. We have to act now before it gets any worse.

  • He STILL isn’t allowing oil companies to drill in the Gulf of Mexico, costing us over 220,000 barrels of oil a day and causing oil companies to raise prices due to lost revenue
  • He isn’t letting oil companies drill in Alaska, which would open up more resources
  • NOT investigating the oil companies for gouging prices at a time when they are seeing record profits

All this is hurting American taxpayers who simply cannot afford it anymore.

The BP oil spill, the crisis in the Middle East, and greedy oil companies all spell TROUBLE and HIGH PRICES for Americans and our already fragile domestic economy.

Obama won’t take the actions necessary to bring down oil prices and what needs to be done to ease the burden on American taxpayers, so we must make him. Let’s alert Congress and DEMAND they investigate Big Oil and FORCE them to lower their prices.

Sincerely,

Tony Adkins
